You can support the arts with your time. Sometimes an organization just needs an extra pair of hands, a friendly face or a special skill. Often they provide training. Help the arts and have fun doing it!

CARROLLWOOD PLAYERS THEATRE is Tampa’s longest continuously operating community theatre company and could use volunteers for a variety of activities. Work “front of house” taking tickets, work concessions, or selling 50/50 raffle tickets and see a show for free. GASPARILLA MUSIC FESTIVAL depends on volunteers to help run a variety of areas during the festival: box office, sponsor tents, scanning tickets at the front gate, etc. Volunteers receive admission for the day they volunteer along with an awesome volunteer shirt! MacDONALD TRAINING CENTER ART PROGRAM – Volunteers are needed to work with their emerging artists in the MTC Fine Arts Studios. Instructional classes are held at the Tampa location from 8:30 am until 2 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at the Plant City location during the same hours on Tuesday and Thursdays. TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART – Become a Docent – Docents are gallery teachers who guide tours of the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. Docent volunteers are an essential link between the public and the Museum. Docents play an important role in providing visitors with a quality, engaging Museum gallery tour experience.

Under the direction of the Education Curator, docents are trained to deliver tours based on current museum pedagogy. Training takes place every other Monday from 10 am — 12 pm with additional training sessions scheduled as needed. Sessions include information about interpretive techniques, teaching methods, collections, and exhibitions. (11/2018)
