The Arts Council of Hillsborough County envisions a landscape where everyone has access to—and takes part in—high quality and lifelong learning experiences in the arts, both in school and in the community. It is our belief that the arts provide us with the knowledge and sensitivity needed to deal with the complexities of the world and are a valuable component in molding well-rounded, articulate, compassionate and responsible citizens.
Cultural organizations and centers throughout the County offer a wide range of educational programming for all ages. There are many arts organizations and artists who regularly bring their specialized talents in music, visual, performing and literary arts to learning environments throughout the County — in our regional cultural centers, nonprofit organizations, recreation departments and schools. Among those regularly offering adult, teen and children’s programming (including some seasonal camps) are:
- Carrollwood Cultural Center
- Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association
- Community Stepping Stones
- Firehouse Cultural Center
- Glazer Family Jewish Community Center Golding Art Studios
- Life Enrichment Center
- New Tampa Cultural Center (under construction)
- Old Hyde Park Art Center

Many more opportunities are available and current listings can be found on our arts education calendar.
For children in K-12 settings, field trips and in-school performances support language arts, history, math and science curriculum through theatre, music, dance, storytelling and visual arts. Themes also cover many social issues such as character education, bullying, self-esteem, and respect; and multicultural themes spanning race and ethnicity. Some of our area’s most respected cultural organizations including the Florida Orchestra, Franzini Family, Jobsite Theatre, Master Chorale, Stageworks Theatre, the Straz Performing Arts Center, Tampa Taiko and many others offer annual arts-in-education programs.
