Filmmakers: Enter GIFF Now

GIFF 2018

The Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF), now in its 12th year, is accepting submissions for the 2018 festival. The festival will be held March 20-25, 2018. 

Categories (with links to entry details) include: 

Narrative Short Films

This is the section of the festival where Short Fiction Films will be accepted. We will accept short films that are 40 minutes or under including Animated and Music Videos. 

U.S. Narrative Features

Fiction films of over 41 minutes in length filmed IN the United States. All genres accepted.

Int’l Narrative Features

Fiction films over 41 minutes in length filmed outside of the United States. All genres accepted.

Made in Florida Features

GIFF celebrates the best films made in Florida. We are looking for the next great Narrative Features and Documentary Features filmed in the Sunshine State.
A minimum of 25% of the film budget and/or production time must be in Florida. You do not need to be a resident of the State of Florida to qualify for this category.

Documentary Features

Non-fiction films over 41 mins in length filmed, both U.S. and International.

Tampa Bay High School Film Competition

This category is for short films from 2- 7 minutes in length made by filmmakers who are currently in High School in the Tampa Bay Area. Films from students outside of this area will not be accepted in this category. Please submit in the General High School Showcase category.

College Short Film Competition

This category if for College Filmmakers that have completed a short film as a college student, undergraduate or graduate. You must submit the name of your college/university name. 

Made in Florida Short Films

This category is for shorts Made in Florida. The MAJORITY of your film must be made in Florida to qualify. You do not need to be a resident of the State of Florida to qualify.

General High School Film Showcase (Not Tampa Bay Made)

This category is for all high school student films NOT made within the Tampa Bay Area. Your film must have been started and completed while in high school.

Documentary Short Films

Non-fiction films that are 40 minutes or under. 

Virtual Reality Short Films

Virtual Reality experience films under 10 minutes should be submitted under this category.

Web Series

This category is for single webisode and multiple episode web series of any genre up to 60 minutes per episode. Webisodes cannot be previously published. 

Jewish Content Films

Fiction or non-fiction films that explore some aspect of Jewish identity, history or culture. Short or future length films will be accepted in this category.





GIFF is one of 23 organizations receiving a Arts Council’s 2017-18 Cultural Development Grant.
