Who We Are

The Arts Council is the local umbrella arts agency that provides a unified voice for all cultural organizations and activities in the greater Tampa and Hillsborough County region and promotes the good news about the cultural vitality of our community to a national audience.

The Arts Council is committed to lead the charge to ensure a healthy environment for arts and culture in this community for generations to come. We galvanize widespread support for arts and culture while also providing grants, unified marketing efforts, research, and advocacy to help our entire cultural community thrive.

Developed after reviewing more than 1,000 community survey responses, this comprehensive publication defines our long-range goals through 2020. The plan recommends actions and measurements to fulfill those goals. Read the Arts Council Strategic Plan  


Board of Directors

The Council’s Board of Directors is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and three to six ex-officio members. Appointed Board members serve four-year terms. The Board meets the fourth Thursday of every month and meetings are open to the public.

Your Local Arts Agency

The Arts Council is the state-designated Local Arts Agency for Hillsborough County. We are an independent special district of Hillsborough County government, governed by a 15-member board of directors appointed by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners

The Arts Council and its programs are funded in part by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners; Hillsborough County Public Schools; the Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture and the State of Florida; foundations; corporations; and individuals.
