After eight years of service, Architect John Thompson is leaving the Arts Council’s Board of Directors. During that time, John served on numerous committees and grant panels as well as Chair of the Board. He was recognized at the Sept. 27 Board meeting for his strategic foresight and deep knowledge of finance, grants and public art.
John has a successful practice in Ybor City and is a founding partner of the award-winning Wilder Architecture firm.
A gift of appreciation, an original work by Hillsborough artist Susan Gott, Phoenix Glass Studio, was presented to him Sept. 27.
His vacancy will be filled by Sandra Sroka of Arts4All Florida (formerly VSA Florida) who was appointed by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners last month. Arts Council Board members are appointed for terms of four years and may elect to renew their service an additional term.
