Public Art RFQ: Two St. Pete Police HQ Projects

The City of St. Petersburg, through the Police Department Public Art Project Committee (a subcommittee of the City’s Public Arts Commission), seeks to commission artist(s) or artists’ team(s) to design, construct and install (or provide instructions for an oversight over the installation in the event the City elects to install art to enhance the public spaces of the Police Headquarters Complex which is currently under construction in the EDGE district.

The Committee has identified two areas within the Complex for possible art integration. See the Call to Artists – Request for Qualifications for details. These two areas will afford artists an opportunity to submit a proposal for an exterior art concept as well as an opportunity to submit a proposal for an interior art project.

    • AREA 1 – Exterior – Signature Structure or Sculpture in the Main Entrance Plaza
    • AREA 2 – Interior – Signature Art Concept(s) in the Open, Two-Story Glass Enclosed Atrium Interior Main Entrance

ELIGIBILITY

This RFQ is open to all professional artists who are United States residents with experience creating, designing, fabricating and installing (or overseeing the installation of) integrated art. Professional artist means a practitioner in the visual arts, generally recognized by critics and/or peers as a professional of serious intent and ability. Indicators of an individual’s status as a professional artist include, but are not limited to: income realized through the sole commission of artwork; frequent or consistent art exhibitions; placement of artwork in and/or upon the exterior or grounds of public institutions or museums; receipt of honors and awards; and training in the arts.

BUDGET: $380,000, possibly to be split among two projects
