TECO Public Art Gallery in downtown Tampa is presenting Alternative Spaces: Illusions and the Essence of Places, Sept. 5 – Oct. 31, 2017. Photographers Christine Ghezzo and Ron Weiss are husband a wife team with very different voices and styles – both dealing with spaces and places.
Ron and Christine create photographs of the mundane, the easily seen and often ignored world around us such as building structures or ethereal reflections in store windows. Through their diverse images, they allow us to explore a new reality through illusionary spaces, complex planes of existence or simply the immense beauty of form and function. What we choose to ignore is then transformed into deconstructed alternative spaces, a new existence frozen in time and space. Ron and Christine are a multi disciplinary artist team based in St Petersburg, represented by United Photographic Artists Gallery. They travel the world extensively to seek the essence of the places they explore, a continuing search for the alternative realities we all inhabit.
The artists will be present for downtown’s Fourth Friday Event on Friday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at TECO Public Art Gallery. They will host a Talk & Tour with visitors and talk about their work, their inspirations and take questions. Representatives from UPA Gallery will also be on hand to talk with visitors. This event is FREE and open to the public.
