The Arts Council works with the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the Florida Cultural Alliance, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Americans for the Arts and other agencies to advocate on behalf of artists and arts organizations of all disciplines. The Arts Council also publishes alerts to its subscribers of important pending public issues. The arts cannot flourish without strong support and unified action by arts supporters. We encourage you to add your voice to the organizations that advocate on behalf of the arts:
Community Outreach Programs
The Arts Council has been an instrumental supporter in the establishment of important community arts programs such as the Firehouse Cultural Center and Community Stepping Stones. Both organizations serve areas that previously had little arts or cultural programming. The Firehouse is a multi-use, cultural and educational facility in Ruskin in the South Shore area of Hillsborough County. Community Stepping Stones is a nonprofit after-school learning center located in Sulphur Springs offering an integrated arts curriculum designed to help teens and young adults.
Finance and Tax Consultations
The Council offers financial/tax planning consultations to artists and arts organizations. Consults are by appointment and may be made by calling Eric Comas at the Arts Council, 813-276-8250.
Organizations – Nonprofit Registration
The Arts Council will assist arts organizations with applications for 501c3 status and with State of Florida registrations such as Charitable Solicitation Licenses. There is no charge.
Working Artists Directory
A voluntary listing of the county’s visual, performing, and literary artists. The list is used as a reference by Arts Council staff for referrals to local artists. Listings are free to artists and available through voluntary submission. Sign up
