The Morean Art Center is pleased to invite emerging artists currently residing in Florida to submit entries for a possible exhibition in the second annual Fresh Squeezed 2: Emerging Artists in Florida. The exhibition will be held at the Morean Arts Center March 10- April 27, 2018.
The exhibition is open to all emerging artists (18 or older) who are Florida residents without restriction to medium. The Morean is defining an emerging artist as one who has never had a solo show in the state of Florida (excluding BFA or MFA show). All work must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously exhibited at the Morean. A solo show constitutes an exhibition in a gallery, arts center, or museum of at least three weeks in length and with an opening reception. One exception: solo BFA or MFA shows at a college or university are acceptable.
The purpose of Fresh Squeezed is to encourage, support, and celebrate artists who fly under the radar, who haven’t had their big break, whose work may not be typical gallery or museum fare. For Fresh Squeezed 2, we encourage artists to break boundaries, to think of ways their work can create dialogue in our community, our region, in our wild, wacky, wonderful state.
Each artist should submit an email with the following attachments: a brief bio, artist statement, one-page resume, 10 images, and image list. Specific instructions are listed in the prospectus. The Morean’s curatorial staff has the final authority for selection.
