Gallery 501 is hosting a dedication ceremony and pre-reception in honor of Teresa Winston, coinciding with the closing reception of the Senior Master Certification Show on Friday, April 21, 2017. The dedication will be held from 4:30–5:00 pm; the closing reception for the Senior Master Certification Show (a showcase of visual art by Blake High School AP seniors) will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided for both the dedication and the general reception.
Teresa Winston (1953–2016) was a vital and valued member of the Tampa Bay community. She was an artist, educator, and tireless supporter of arts programs at the Howard W. Blake School of the Arts. Her dedication to the field was evident in her career path and achievements: she held a Masters degree in Leadership, obtained GIA certification, and worked for 39 years in education. Teresa shared her success and knowledge in many ways that gave back to the local community, especially for students at Howard W. Blake. Teresa was also instrumental with the creation of Gallery 501, which provides students and the local community with access to exhibitions of emerging and established artists in the Tampa Bay area. A plaque, made possible by the generosity of local artist Charles Greacen, will be unveiled within Gallery 501 in her honor.
