Assistant Company Manager

Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida (LORT B Mainstage: LORT D Second Stage) is seeking a full-time seasonal Assistant Company Manager to start August 2017.

The Assistant Company Manager supports the Artistic department with logistical planning for visiting artists’ residencies, transportation and other administrative duties; and will share on-call responsibilities with the Company Management Apprentice. This position requires an outgoing, self-starter who loves being around artists and is an excellent communicator. He or she must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong multi-tasker. The position requires a flexible disposition, discretion, the ability to remain level-headed in stressful situations, and an ability to make decisions in accordance with established procedures.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and be capable of lifting at least 25 pounds. Ideal applicants will have completed a Bachelor’s degree in arts administration or equivalent work experience in theatrical company management.

Master Electrician

The nationally recognized Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida (

LORT B Mainstage: LORT D Second Stage) is seeking an experienced Master Electrician for a year round, salaried position to start August of 2017.

Responsibilities include

  • Interpretation of plots and paperwork, prep work for each show
  • Manage crews, include load in and strike, hang and focus of all Asolo Rep shows
  • Program quickly and have deep knowledge of ETC ION lighting console
  • Maintenance and repair of moving lights (Vari*lite, Martin)
  • Strong communication and time management skills,
  • Competence with AutoCad, VectorWorks  and Lightwright
  • Ability to program moving lights and work with projection equipment
  • Detailed knowledge of lighting, current technologies, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent scheduling, planning, budgeting, computer, and organizational, communication skills
  • Basic lighting design skills for special events

Applicants should have three years of professional theatre experience. Experience with a theater company working in rotating rep is a plus. 

Position is covered under an agreement between Asolo Rep and IATSE Local 412. Competitive salary/benefits.

Education Specialist

Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida (LORT B Mainstage: LORT D Second Stage) is seeking an Education Specialist who nurtures relationships with educators through all steps of school programming, including a Shakespeare tour, student matinees and classroom workshops.

Responsibilities include: preparing educational materials for teachers and students; developing and leading workshops and talkbacks; preparing teaching artists; coordinating reservations, schedules, logistics, invoicing and evaluation as each program requires; executing marketing plans in coordination with the Education Director; and supporting new school collaborations as they arise.

The Specialist has excellent verbal and written communication, research skills, familiarity with curriculum standards and current school practices, and experience with a range of dramatic literature from many styles and periods. The ideal candidate has professional experience in a producing theatre, rigorous attention to detail in administrative tasks, and significant work as a teaching artist. Skills with Tessitura, email marketing, simple graphic design and/or video are assets.
